Chatham Democrats volunteer for CORA-Turkey Tuesday

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

Cora Food Pantry held their annual Turkey Tuesday food drive at two area Food Lion grocery stores and at CORA’s headquarters on Camp Drive.

Chatham Democrats volunteered to staff the Food Line near Briar Chapel and helped to bring in 1,396 pounds of donated food items from just that location. From all three locations, a total of 187 turkeys and 10 hams were donated.

As shoppers arrived at the store, they were offered a list of items that they could purchase that could then be dropped off with the volunteers as they left the store. The list included turkeys, hams, and a variety of canned and dry goods like mac and cheese, rice, or boxed stuffing. An easy way to help CORA reach their goal of helping 1,000 deserving families during the holiday season.

We were fortunate that Representative Robert Reives took time from his busy schedule to drop by to help out and to say hello to volunteers and shoppers. We even helped a young man complete his voter registration!
