Siler City Town Hall Forum

The Chatham County Democrats hosted a town hall style forum to discuss the local impact of federal budget cuts. The event was on April 12 from 2-4 pm in the auditorium at Jordan Matthews High School in Siler City.

Special guests on the panel were Representative and Democratic Leader Robert Reives and Senator Natalie Murdock. Leader Reives and Senator Murdock were joined by Melissa Driver Beard, Executive Director of CORA, and Anna Tuell, Executive Director of Chatham Habitat for Humanity.

Following a short talk by each of the panelists, they took questions from the audience on a wide range of topics that focused mainly on the federal budget cuts in Chatham County.

Several Democrats from Randolph County also participated in the event. Leader Reives represents House District 54, which includes a portion of Randolph County.

With a surprise visit, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton was in the audience and spoke for a couple of minutes at the end of the event.
